Introducing myself
My name is
Jan de Haan. I’m born in 1956 and living in Grou, province Fryslân in the
Netherlands. One of my hobbies is
photography. After many years shooting my pics in analogue settings, in 2003 I set
foot in the new digital era. My first digital camera I bought in spring that
year was a Canon G3. The first photos that I've made with that camera were of
little lambs.
Nowadays I shoot my photos with my Canon 5D mark
ii and my Canon G16. Also, on occasional basis, I use my iPhone 6. Since 2013 I
have my own studio lighting set.

Nature and landscape photography
My interest
is in nature and landscape photography, though I frequently take a trip to
street, sports and portrait photography.
The past
few years I've made thousands and thousands of pictures that are stalled on the
hard drive of my computer; for no one accessible, except for myself. I want to
do more with my photos then only have them on my computer. I want to show my
most beautiful photos to people who are interested.
By displaying them I show what I have seen and
what I've experienced. With my photos I want to take you by the hand and lead
you to the places where the photos were taken and share with you my most
treasurable (photo)moments. My photos tell my stories.
Many of my bicycle travels I have captured on photonegatives
or slide positives. I’m not the type who watches his life through the
viewfinder of his photo camera. I always choose my topics with care. The
pictures I produce support my memories of what I have seen and experienced.
The
American sociologist and photographer Lewis Hine (1874 – 1940) once wrote:
"if I could tell the story in words I didn't need to drag around my photo camera".
In my case I would be lacking a very heavy backpack.
I invite you to join me to look at my photos. I
wish you a lot of pleasure watching them.
